Christophe Morel is the Canadian representative
Quebec, April 2007 : Christophe Morel, the 39 year-old manager of Chocolaterie Rolland in Boucherville, Québec, has been appointed to represent Canada in the 2007 World Chocolate Masters finals in Paris.
Morel, who was educated in France and has a lot of experience as a pastry chef both in France and Canada, has been appointed the Canadian finalist by the "Association des Artisans Chocolatiers du Québec" (AACQ). The AACQ "has decided to select Christophe Morel from Montréal after carefully reflecting" on his capabilities.
Christophe Morel started as an apprentice in a pastry shop near Paris. In 1986 he obtained his "CAP" of patissier, chocolatier and glacier. After his military service and further professional experiences in different pastry shops, he started his own business "La Patisserie à la Griottine" in 1995, and a second shop one year later.
In 2001 Morel moved to Canada where he opened "La Patisserie l'Amandier" until he became a demonstrator and R&D manager in a large company.
Meanwhile, he participated in several (inter)national contests.
